I said idiom as well. Although, I hesitated for a moment about whether it could also be zeugma because of the potential reading "The adviser keeps tabs (literally) on her students". But I suppose I had just looked too much into it.

Sadly, I think I skipped that one, hoping to get back to it later and unfortunately ran out of time. I think I would probably classify it as an idiom as well.

I answered idiom. I said that it couldn't serve two functions, as in: the advisor kept tabs from cans and on her students. I don't think I could find enough evidence to support metaphor.
