Synonyms
On the same topic as my first post how would you all label the words "stream, brook, and creek?" I think there is something about these words in the book. I am interested in knowing if they denote different bodies of water to you or do you use them as being true synonyms? For me brook and creek would be propositional synonyms, but stream would be something slightly larger than creek or brook but smaller than a river.

I have to agree with how you see them; brook and creek may have differences - I for one wouldn't say brook - but stream is definitely separate from the other two, who would be propositional synonyms. I feel like it is bigger, just as you say.
it's kinda like mound, hill and knoll. I feel as if hill would be bigger than the other two - despite the fact that the dictionary calls them synonyms - but I would not really know where to draw the line between mound and knoll.
